Kathleen Sienko Named Arthur F. Thurnau Professor

sienkoDr. Kathleen Sienko, associate professor of mechanical engineering and associate professor of biomedical engineering, was recently named a recipient of an Arthur F. Thurnau professorship. The professorship is given annually to faculty members who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, innovation in the classroom, and contributions to the undergraduate environment that extend beyond the classroom or lab. Beyond Dr. Sienko’s innovative teaching and leadership that have won her multiple awards, she has also been the driving force for the Global Health Design program, which places students on multidisciplinary teams to develop low-cost medical devices at field sites in Ghana and China.
